As you know, one of our “Caring for America” projects is to do a literacy day every year. We select an elementary school which is in a lower-income area, and whose students are a majority on free lunch. This year’s day will be Wednesday, November 14th, 12:30 p.m. at the Rollingwood Elementary School, 6301 N. Ann Arbor. This is off of NW 63rd St. between Meridian and MacArthur. It would be great to have some of our members turn out for this event!

The January kick-off meeting will be a very interesting one. Our speaker is Wes Bledsoe, Founder and CEO of Victims’ Action Center located right here in Oklahoma City. He will be addressing the systematic failures by Oklahoma’s Nursing Home Industry and State oversight agencies. For example, the financial crisis and closure of The City of Pauls Valley’s hospital led to the question: Why does the City of Pauls Valley own 28 nursing homes across the State of Oklahoma? On January 22, 2019, they are conducting a statewide Town Hall Meeting to discuss The Crisis And Bridge Too Far, Oklahoma’s Nursing Home Fiasco. Governor Pinnell serves as Secretary of Tourism and Branding on Governor Kevin Stitt’s cabinet. Pinnell also runs a small business with his wife, Lisa, an entrepreneur and inventor. Our state convention will be held again at the 1st Baptist Church of Moore on Saturday, April 6th . The church is located at 301 NE 27th in Moore. Lots of parking and people can be dropped off near the door. Cost to register is $30 (which includes a barbeque lunch), and you can pre-register by going to www.okgop.com/register, or register at the door.
