Karen Stark\, founder of HUGS\, will also be there. \nNorthwest Library\n5600 NW 122nd St. OKC 73142 \n  \nMap Location \nRaised with conservative values on a Garfield County\nfarm\, Mike Hunter holds degrees from both\nOklahoma State University and the University of\nOklahoma College of Law.\nIn the 1980s\, he ably served six years as a Republican\nmember of the Oklahoma House of Representatives.\nAfter leaving the legislature\, Mike continued in\npublic service as the general counsel at the Oklahoma\nCorporation Commission and thereafter was tapped\nby Congressman J.C. Watts to be his Chief of Staff.\nDuring this time\, Mike also served as Watts’ legal\ncounsel for both the National Security and the\nTransportation and Infrastructure Committees. In\n1999\, Mike became Oklahoma’s Secretary of State\nand the governor’s chief liaison to the legislature\, the\njudiciary\, and the state’s federal delegation. He later\nbecame Secretary of Oklahoma’s Commissioners of\nthe Land Office.\nMike also brings national experience in running large\norganizations. For eight years\, he served as COO of\nthe American Council of Life Insurers and oversaw\nits 135 member staff. He later held the same position\nwith the American Bankers Association for four\nyears.\nIn 2015\, Mike became then Attorney General Scott\nPruitt’s first assistant attorney general\, where he\noversaw the staff of more than 180 lawyers\,\ninvestigators and support staff. Upon Scott Pruitt’s\nconfirmation as EPA Administrator\, Mike’s\nexperience and conservative credentials made him\nboth the obvious and best choice to fill the remainder\nof Pruitt’s term\, a role he began on February 20\,\n2017.

Governor Pinnell\nserves as Secretary of Tourism and Branding on\nGovernor Kevin Stitt’s cabinet. Pinnell also runs a\nsmall business with his wife\, Lisa\, an\nentrepreneur and inventor.\nPrior to his election as Lieutenant Governor\,\nPinnell served as Director of State Parties for the\nRepublican National Committee from 2013 to\n2017. Meeting starts at 10aM. \nOur newly elected State Auditor\, Cindy Byrd\, will be our speaker at the March meeting.\nCindy is the first woman elected to this statewide-elected office\, and the only candidate\nto top the 800\,000 vote milestone in an election for state office. \nCindy earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from East Central University in\nAda. She is a CPA with more than 20 years of governmental auditing experience. Her public\nservice includes planning and conducting county audits\, district attorney audits\,\nemergency medical services district audits and investigative audits. \nThe State Auditor & Inspector’s primary function is to safeguard public assets. DESCRIPTION:The January kick-off meeting will be a very interesting one. Our speaker is Wes Bledsoe\, Founder and CEO of Victims’ Action Center located right here in Oklahoma City. He will be addressing the systematic failures by Oklahoma’s Nursing Home Industry and State oversight agencies. \nFor example\, the financial crisis and closure of The City of Pauls Valley’s hospital led to the question: Why does the City of Pauls Valley own 28 nursing homes across the State of Oklahoma? On January 22\, 2019\, they are conducting a statewide Town Hall Meeting to discuss The Crisis And Bridge Too Far\, Oklahoma’s Nursing Home Fiasco. This will be held at Metro Tech’s auditorium located at 1900 Springlake Drive in OKC. \nWes will be at our meeting at 9:30 and will stay around afterwards to answer any questions.
