SUMMARY:OKCRWC April General Meeting on Judicial Reform
DESCRIPTION:Meetings are open to OKCRWC members and their invited guests. Please text or call the club at 405-397-4257 to RSVP. We serve complimentary muffins\, coffee and tea at each meeting. Networking starts at 10:30AM and program kicks off at 11AM. \nJUDICIAL REFORM: WHY IT IS CRITICAL FOR OKLAHOMA\nLearn how we appoint judges and why it’s not working. We’ll look at two issues: \n\nNo judicial officer has ever been voted out in a retention election\, so they effectively serve terms for life. \nThe critical need to repeal Oklahoma’s Judicial Nominating Commission (JNC).  Politics should not be dominated by progressive trial lawyers but rather the people’s elected officials.\n\n\nRyan Haynie\nCriminal Justice Reform Fellow\n\n\nRyan Haynie serves as the Criminal Justice Reform Fellow for the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs. Prior to joining OCPA\, he practiced law in Oklahoma City. His work included representing the criminally accused in state and federal courts. Ryan is active in the Federalist Society\, serving as the Programming Director for the Oklahoma City Lawyer’s Chapter. He holds a B.B.A. from the University of Oklahoma and a J.D. from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. He and his wife\, Jaclyn\, live in Oklahoma City with their three children. \n\n  \n  \n  \n
