Oklahoma City Republican Women’s Club members met at John Adams Elementary School on September 18th to celebrate Literacy Month. As part of our literacy project we provided the 4th graders a dictionary, a book, and a reading buddy (a Beanie Baby) to take home. A bonus to the day happened at one o’clock when the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Rolling Thunder Book Bus arrived. All 4th graders got to hop aboard to choose a new book. This converted school bus travels to schools, community centers, museums, parks and other sites throughout the year to promote reading and literacy. We topped the event off with cookies and lemonade. The event with hugs from all ninety 4th graders to each of the OKCRWC members solidified that it was a fruitful day for all.
